Details About Beekeeping Queen Introduction Cage

  • Fill the bee space where the worker bees eat the candy to allow the subsequent queen to emerge into the hive. You will see a small bee passage have placed the candy.
  • Fix the cage on the newly capped brood with the provided plastic tacks attached to the cage. Place the queen into the cage and then close the cage. Make sure there are a few bees as possible within the cage when placing the queen in the cage. As old worker bees tend to be the ones that do not accept the queen, where emerging bees from capped brood are very accepting of the newly introduced queen.
  • Leave the cage in the hive for up to 48 hours, by that time the bees should have eaten through the candy and the queen’s pheromones would have the release in the hive and the bees have become accustomed to the new queen’s pheromones and the chances for acceptance increase dramatically.
